Rachel Roy Event At Macy's Chicago

Last night I attended the Rachel Roy event at Macy's on State St. in Chicago & it turned out to be a really great event. The woman of the hour arrived at about 6:30p & spoke with any & everyone who wanted to chat it up with her. As shown in the picture above, models showcased clothing from her newest Rachel Rachel Roy collection, sold exclusively at Macy's.

The Sassy Peach had the opportunity to do a mini-interview with the lovely Rachel! Read what she had to say after the jump!



TSP: What was your inspiration for creating the Rachel Rachel Roy line?

Rachel: I just wanted to create something that was accessible to everyone. I was once the girl who could not always afford the high-end clothing, so that is who I created this line for. I respect the consumer so I chose to create something of great quality, great fabrics & something fun. I definitely wanted to respect the consumer as well.

TSP: What are 3 staple pieces would you say every woman should have in her closet?

Rachel: 1 - A trench. It's something you can throw on & look & pulled together in. 2 - A boyfriend blazer. One with a great lining always looks good, roll up the sleeves to show it off. And 3 - A cardigan. Temperatures change from inside & outside, so it's a great staple to have.

TSP: What are some of your favorite trends currently happening in fashion?

Rachel: I love the feminine/androgynous look that's happening right now. I also just did it in my spring 2010 line! I like the lines & fit of a jacket with square shoulders. You have to pay attention to the shoulder area & make sure it's flattering to the body type, but I think it's a great style.
